HKIX Filter Update Guidelines

Filter Update
HKIX use IP address or AS number filtering on the route server to control routing information updates from ISP members. HKIX members are entitled to use AS number filtering provided that members have more than 5 Autonomous Systems (AS) connected and each AS contains at least one /20 or shorter prefix announced to HKIX.

Here are the basic guidelines on HKIX filtering:

1) HKIX performs filter update twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday in normal working days. Applications received on or later than the day of Tuesday/Friday will be processed in the next batch of weekly update schedule.

2) HKIX members should check the integrity of the filters and submit the IP address or AS number that require for modification. Please check the existence of the filter before making request to HKIX NOC as we shall reject those applications with duplicated IP addresses or AS numbers in the regular update process.

3) The standard format accepted by HKIX route server are as follows,

AS number filtering

1234

This will create an AS filter with regexp "permit _1234$" and accept those network prefixes origin from AS1234 to the HKIX.

IP address filtering

192.168.0.0/16

This will create an IP address filter with wildcard bits of /16 and accept those network prefixes with /16 or longer to the HKIX.

*** Please note that minimum IP block accepted by HKIX route server is /24. ***
