Message from WIDE Project and JPRS, operators of M.root-servers.net DNS root name server Dear members of HKIX, WIDE Project, a research consortium in Japan, and Japan Registry Services Co. Ltd., .JP registry, jointly operate m.root-servers.net DNS root name service, and thanks to HKIX, we have recently started an Anycast node at HKIX. As we have announced the prefixes via BGP with the Route Servers of HKIX already, we are able to offer our service at a shorter RTT for ISPs with MLPA. Of course, depending on the configuration, other global nodes (such as in Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, San Francisco, and Paris) or local nodes may provide shorter RTT. For these ISPs not with MLPA, we invite to have BGP sessions individually: Our peering AS is: AS7500 Our IP addresses is: 123.255.92.67 and 2001:7fa:0:1::ca28:a243 Advertised Prefix: one in IPv4 and one in IPv6 MD5 password is configurable upon request. For peering, please write as7500@nspixp.wide.ad.jp an email including the connection point of HKIX, and your ISP name, ASN, IPv4 address and IPv6 address for BGP peering, and peering contact email address. Optionally proposed MD5 password may be included. Upon reception of the request, we will let you know after configuration in our end with "passive" mode. It is great if your ISP can choose the nearest M-Root instance to minimize the RTT to the customers (in this particular context, "Full-Service Resolvers" -- sometimes referred to as caching servers). Regards, -- Akira Kato, WIDE Project
