Depending on size and number of network prefixes announced by HKIX participant, HKIX uses IP address or AS number filtering (either one but not both) on HKIX route servers to control routing information update receiving from every participant router. For details, please refer to our route policy on HKIX route servers. Here are the basic guidelines on HKIX filtering: 1) HKIX participant needs to submit filter update request via the online form for additional network prefixes (using IP address filtering) or origin AS numbers (using AS filtering) to be announced to the route servers. 2) HKIX participant MUST go to the mail authentication link in order to confirm the filter update. HKIX will process the update request accordingly and the new filter will be activated one working day after the request is approved by HKIX NOC. 3) HKIX participant should check the integrity of filters and submit only the IP address (for IP address filtering) or origin AS number (for AS filtering) that require for change. Please check the network existence before making request as our NOC will reject the update if reserved networks or duplicated IP addresses / AS numbers found in the filter. 4) The syntax of HKIX filtering are as follows; For HKIX participant using AS number filtering 1234 This will create an AS filter with regexp "permit _1234$" and accept all network prefixes origin from AS1234 to the HKIX. For HKIX participant using IP address filtering 192.168.0.0/16 This will create an IP address filter with wildcard bits of /16 and accept those network prefixes with /16 or longer to the HKIX. * Please note that the minimum IP block accepted by HKIX route server is /24. * 5) To query the latest filter information on HKIX route server, please visit our HKIX looking glass at http://www.hkix.net/hkixlg.html 6) To check the filter update status, please click here.
