Site Access Application in General

  • All HKIX participants and FTNS operators MUST apply site access permission for any site works and schedule maintenance to be carried out at HKIX Data Centre.  Only authorized persons in the HKIX Data Centre Authorization List can make site access requests and they need to complete the HKIX Site Access Application Form by giving at least one working day notice to HKIX in advance for site access application. HKIX will acknowledge the application by emails and notify the applicants once the site access permission is granted.  For security reasons, ALL site access requests without prior notice to HKIX will be rejected.

HKIX Data Centre Policies in General

  • All visitors have to observe and agree to abide by the HKIX Data Centre Policy posted in http://www.hkix.net/access-policy.htm.
  • A maximum of 3 persons (the name MUST be submitted in the HKIX Site Access Application Form) may enter HKIX Data Centre at the same time. For security reasons, all visitors will be requested to show his/her STAFF ID or HKID/Passport for verification. He/she will be refused to enter HKIX Data Centre if the required credentials cannot be shown.

How to Provide / Update the HKIX Data Centre Authorization List

  • HKIX participants and FTNS operators MUST use the HKIX Data Centre Access Authorization Form to provide a FULL LIST of authorized persons for applying site access requests. Partially changes or incremental updates of the HKIX Data Centre Authorization List will NOT be accepted.
  • A filled authorization form will be sent to your NOC email address. HKIX participants and FTNS operators MUST return the authorization form with company chop and authorized signature and reply the email to confirm the update request. HKIX will process the update accordingly and the new HKIX Data Centre Access Authorization List will take effect one working day after the request is approved by HKIX NOC.

How to apply for HKIX Site Access

  1. Only authorized persons in the HKIX Data Centre Authorization List can make site access requests.
  2. Applicants MUST complete the HKIX Site Access Application Form in advance and provide the following information in their applications:
    1. Company name of the FTNS operators or HKIX Participants and the AS number associated;
    2. Job description and work order information;
    3. Date and time to apply for site access;
    4. Name and Staff ID or first 3 digits of HKID/Passport ID of the visitor(s);
  3. At least 1 working day notice must be given in advance in general.
  4. Applicants MUST submit the Equipment Move-in/out Form if equipment move-in or move-out is involved.
  5. HKIX will acknowledge the application by emails and notify the applicants once the site access permission is granted.

Equipment Move-in/out

  • Please inform HKIX for any goods or equipment will be delivered to HKIX Data Centre. You can make the appointment by following the procedures at the HKIX Site Access Application Form. Equipment move-in/out without prior notice will be rejected by HKIX.
  • HKIX participants should use Equipment Move-in/out From (FORM-2) to provide the list of equipment to be installed in HKIX Data Centre.
  • The standard input of power is 220V AC with dual power sources and the equipment rack is provisioned for 13A power consumption.
  • Please note that a special license is required by the HKSAR Government for import equipment with information security under the control of Strategic Commodities List. HKIX participants must check the imported items against the control list on the Trade and Industry Department web site and complete the license application as required by the HKSAR government
  • If the goods will be delivered by shipping company, please make sure all necessary documents and proper import licenses have been cleared before sending the equipment to the HKIX Data Centre.
  • HKIX will not responsible for application of import licenses and goods clearing on behalf of HKIX participants.
